Christmas shopping

Shopping can be pretty boring for some people but it is a great chance to increase miles on your pedometer.

It can even be window shopping but make sure to wear comfortable shoes and resist unhealthy snacks offered at malls. Opt for fruits and smoothies for a healthy Christmas shopping day!

Healthy Christmas snacks

Here are some easy to follow Christmas snacking tips:

-Go for low fat snacks such as low fat microwaved popcorn, raw nuts, dried fruits and roast chestnuts to accompany drinks.

-Use rice cakes instead of bread.

-Bake wholewheat cookies or gluten free options if you are gluten sensitive instead of processed biscuits.

-Opt for sashimi salmon instead of cream cheese salmon bites.

-Choose marinated chicken instead of breaded, it is fewer in calories and healthier.

Sushi

Sushi is a healthy meal choice, fish is high in omega 3 and rice is low in fat. It is a complete meal so a small sushi platter is always a good idea.(10-15 pieces)

However fish contains mercury, a heavy metal that the body is unable to eliminate, so it is advised to consume high mercury fish not more than 3 times a week.

Favor white fish and salmon.

P.S: Tempura are higher in fat as they are fried so stick to raw, marinated or grilled fish.
