Exercise is the only thing that no one can do for you… Unfortunately or finally (depending on which group you belong too lazy or energetic) you and only you will be the one hitting the gym. Your trainer or home DVD will be your ‘health friend’, the one who will put you out of your laziness and into the training shoes. Hands up Partner!

There is a lot of misconception regarding diet and exercise; people tend to do whatever they hear regarding miracle substitutes to exercise (electrotherapy, power plates…) but those are not risk free, power plate for example creates vibration that can stimulate muscle function which can cause cartilage damage, lower back pain, blurred vision and even brain damage.

So shaking your way to fitness is not the best solution.

Put your motivation mood on and exercise normally, moving your body and increasing your heart rate will shape your way to a healthy body.

It was considered that raw eggs were the best remedy for muscle recovery after workout but there is no scientific study that proves the causality between eating raw eggs and muscle health. There is one study conducted on lab rat that showed a cause and effect relationship between a high consumption of raw egg whites and the loss of hair .Egg whites contain a substance that will bind to the B vitamin Biotin in the body thus inhibiting its function of promoting hair growth. So people eating a high amount of raw egg whites might experience the same symptoms.

The only way to eat properly while you exercise is an adequate diet based on your activity type and level. Protein is the most popular macronutrient for exercise; it is subject to debate regarding excessive consumptions for bodybuilding. The RDA for proteins is 0.80g/Kg/day for men and women; there is no proof of additional protein requirement however a lot of supplements made their way in the fitness industry promoting perfect bodies and unbeatable strength. There are specialized shops claiming to be healthy and natural which only sell pills that are far from being natural as they were processed in labs!

Protein supplements are only beneficial to enhance muscle hypertrophy in the one-hour window after strenuous exercise.

Very high protein intake can lead to osteoporosis and bone loss due to calcium leaching. No need to binge on protein supplements getting protein from eggs, chicken breast, lean meat and plant sources (beans, soy, quinoa) is better than powders. Excess protein can even be converted to fat when the body is unable to store it or convert it as energy. Endurance athletes require the most proteins unlike what is commonly thought about body builders. Some popular supplements contain amphetamine like compounds and other dangerous substances that cause blindness or liver damage. Creatinine supplements are a good solution as they have a positive effect on strength, energy, and muscle mass recovery.
