In addition to their benefits to the colon health,fibers play an important role in colon cancer,diabetes,heart disease,obesity and premature death.

Increasing fiber intake by just 7 % lowers by 7 % the risk of strokes. Low fiber intake was associated to the stiffening of arteries.An additional apple,an extra 40 g of broccoli or just 2 tablespoons of beans a day during childhood could higher their health status.

It is advised to eat a daily dose of 25 g of fibers such as oats,beans,nuts,berries,whole wheat rice and whole wheat bread .

You can have porridge for breakfast ,add beans to your salad or enjoy a berry fruit salad to optimize your fiber intake.

Figs health benefits

Figs come from the mulberry family of trees. Figs are full of minerals(calcium,iron,Phosphorous,Manganese,sodium,potassium,chlorine) and vitamins such as vitamin A,vitamin B1,vitamin B2.

Mix it in your salads or have it as a snack.

Commercially grown dried figs may be treated with sulfur dioxide gas during processing. They may also contain sulfites to extend their shelf life.

Chose your dried figs wisely when the fresh fruit is still not available. Pick the organic varieties which does not contain additives because sulfite can lead to allergic reaction in sensitive people.
